Online CEU

Hello CASSW Member,

In order to provide ongoing professional support to our members and advance the knowledge base in our profession we have developed this on-line course in Law and Ethics for School Social Workers. We have provided documents that we hope you will read and refer not just for the course but to guide you in your practice. After you have completed the course we will award you with 3 Continuing Education Units that qualify for part the BBS bi-annual Law and Ethics requirement.

Prior to reading those documents that provide the legal and ethical framework for making ethical decisions we have included some material developed by the School Social Work Association of America that discusses some of the unique issues that face social workers in school settings. The SSWAA “Ethical Guideline Series” discuss School Social Work and the privacy of minors. We have also provided an excerpt from a model of ethical decision making with understanding that although knowledge of the legal code is an important aspect of making ethical decisions it is not the only thing to consider.

We have provided copies of the following course documents in PDF format.
